Machine Details:

Pre-programmed and reversible longitudinal slot machining and tool lift obtained by alternating table movement.

Once the pre-programmed slot depth has been reached, in automatic the machine performs a number of finishing strokes and the ram stops in its top position and the workpiece table in automatic returns to machining start cycle position.

20° tilting head (in both directions).

Inverter controlled variable stepless slotting speed with potentiometer incorporated in the control panel.

Machine Details:

Automatic longitudinal and horizontal pre-programmed and reversible slot machining and automatic rotation of turntable for any required slot depth and diameter.

The software offers the following standard applications:

  • slot bottom finishing: in the event the slot is widened the operator has the possibility of milling the bottom of the slot to finish.
  • incremental tool lift: with this function enabled the tool is completely raised out of the slot when the ram returns and returns to zero workpiece position.

If required, it is possible to add and incorporate specific software functions and applications:

  • tangential slots: this function allows the operator to machine in automatic two or more UNI 7515-76 tangential slots of any width.

This model also incorporates the traditional ram drive assembly consisting of a NC controlled piston transforming the ram axis into a NC machining axis for machining front conical slots and for running programmes in sequence in automatic with different machining speeds.

The software offers the following standard applications:

  • slot repeat:  this function is for repeating slot machining without having to proceed with machine setup.
  • incremental tool lift:  with this function enabled the tool is completely raised out of the slot when the ram returns  and returns to zero workpiece position.

Technical Specifications

Machine Structure

Manufactured from electric arc welded sheet metal of robust thickness, adequately ribbed and heat treated for internal stress relieving.

Head and Ram

G30 cast-iron. the head travelways are ground and hand scraped to ensure perfect ease of movement of the ram. The ram is driven by a self-braking asynchronous motor, reduction gear unit and crank assembly. Ram travel (stroke) is manually adjusted using the cam on the handwheel.

The head tilts 20° both clockwise and anti-clockwise and is the ideal solution for machining conical slots.

Rectangular Table

Quality grade cast-iron with ground and scraped travel guides. Wide central hole to floor designed for machining long shafts.

Turntable

Quality grade cast-iron with wide central through hole designed for machining long shafts.

The travelways on the table and support are ground and hand finished. Table rotation is driven by a worm screw-sprocket assembly (the worm screw is steel quality 18 NCM 5 hardened and ground and the sprocket is bronze quality B14) which incorporates a micrometric backlash recovery system. Maintenance free support guide thanks to an automatic greasing system.

Computer controlled compressed-air driven rotation lock system during machining.

Axis

Tables with NC controlled axes are moved by ground and enclosed recirculating ball screw assemblies.

Lubrication

A timer controlled pump lubrication system. When the oil level drops below the minimum level machining stops automatically and an alarm prompt is activated.

Cooling System

Closed circuit system driven by a centrifugal electro-pump and a removable swarf collection tray is positioned below the table for easy access.

Safety Protections

Sheet metal and Plexiglas folding enclosure with front panel doors for easy access when the overhead crane positions the workpiece.

Microswitch safety feature, in conformity with safety directives in force, is fitted to the enclosure to prevent opening during machining.

Electrics

Each axis is driven by a brushless motor and servo-drive with NC control. The NC control system allows easy machine programming even for complex workpieces. Electrics and wiring conform to the stringent safety directives.
